....................Why we study science......when we know that it is the only cause of the environmental problems ?OK, I feel like ranting, so I will...
I don't dispute that polluting the planet with waste (some of it toxic) is bad, but the planet is taking it in its stride and the only ones suffering are the human race itself and all the other creatures that we share this planet with. But the sheer arrogance of it, to imagine that we, as a race can influence a whole planet, is ludicrous! 75% of this planet is water, and of the remaining 25% only 3% are inhabitable. The rest is too hot, too cold, too high and so on...
The carbon dioxide gas is a green house gas, true, but so are methane and water, amongst other ones. And water is far more abundant than carbon dioxide could ever be. Carbon dioxide is produced day and night by forests and by ocean phytoplankton during their respiration process, and oxygen is produced only by day, when plants photosynthesise. Volcanoes also produce vast quantities of carbon dioxide and water vapour, both powerful green house gases. Add in the mix the periodical climate change- how hot the planet was when there were tropical forests all the way to the south pole!?
So, studying science is important to help one think for oneself and not sucumb to media induced hysteria! Let me be rightly understood, I am not advocating the pollution of the planet, but neither am I supporting this climate change histeria. Adapt or perish, that is what I am saying. It is a fundamental law of nature! It is time that the human race adapts for the changing environment rather than use its energy to lament and blame.
Sorry if I wrote incoherently, but as I said,I'm ranting! Why we study science......when we know that it is the only cause of the environmental problems ?
It isn't true that science is the cause of all of our environmental problems.
Most carbon dioxide -- about 97 percent -- comes from natural sources.
That's roughly 300 billion metric tons per year of CO2 gas from breathing animals, decaying plants, forest fires, volcanic eruptions and other naturally occurring phenomena.
Human activities, like driving cars, burning coal, farming, industrial production and other practices, account for 3 percent, or about 8 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide production per year. Why we study science......when we know that it is the only cause of the environmental problems ?That is a really silly thing to say. it is science that allows us to understand and correct the environmental problems we create and which occur naturally, that allows us to have healthy and comfortable lives, to live beyond the primitive conditions that would prevail in the absence of knowledge.
Without science, we would still be drinking each other's wastes and suffering from epidemics of cholera and other nasty diseases and conditions. You and I are sources of pollution simply by existing, although I would not argue with you when you say that technology has increased pollution problems. But technology is not the same as science, science is the means to understanding, technology is the use of that understanding. Perhaps you should ask why we practice technology since it is the primary source of many environmental problems. (but ask it from a question scratched on a rock, because otherwise you are using technology and thus hypocritically contributing the problem). Why we study science......when we know that it is the only cause of the environmental problems ?
Science tells us what the world is. There is no Gods and heaven. Science not only predicted and save our world but also in an extent of degree, makes our life better. If science can create weapons and bombs that destroyed the world.... can go to the moon, the mars... so far away from us... I truly believe that science can also changed the deserts into oasises.
The desert in Alice Springs in Northern Territory has had very rich oil, natural gas, springs water......
What about other deserts in the world?
Hey, you, you only know how to talk!
Dreams can come true. Must start thinking and talking. But the project is so huge. I know I can do nothing. But there must be a big group of someone that can do something.
Was it possible for mankind to go to the moon?
I think it must be the same reason....Why we study science......when we know that it is the only cause of the environmental problems ?Pollution is the cause of environmental problems, not science. The problem is also with governments and industries that ignore environmental scientific studies and warnings! Why we study science......when we know that it is the only cause of the environmental problems ?
If we didn't study science, there is already enough of it around the world for younger generations to get a grasp on it. There are more pros than cons, I guess. Why we study science......when we know that it is the only cause of the environmental problems ?
Where do you get the idea science is to blame? It is people %26amp; pollution that are the problem.
