The shift in human values since then has actual been to develop a GREATER appreciation for the environment (though still not enough, probably). Even if we could arrest causes of environmental degradation today, the environment will continue to decline. I think that humans today are the same as humans of yesterday and tomorrow. We will act to protect our environment when the threat is visible, imminent and affects us personally. Until then we all give lip service to the environment, including me.
