Are the areas located near cities affected by environmental problems? why?

probably more environmental plans than other areas when you think about it. For onstance, cities have very high populations so right there is a stress on the environment and the resources that everyone is competing for. Also, cities have a huge amount of pollution but no where to store it so the cities ship it out into other areas. Like New York transports all its solid waste into Pennsylvania and Ohio. Also, the cities are home to so much industry that further air and water pollution is felt greatly in surrounding areas. I live on the Bay shore of the Raritan bay by New York and up until a few years ago waste would wash up on our shore all the time. its not that the cities are located where there is environmental problems, the cities cause these problems iwth infrastructure that can not support the amount of people living thereAre the areas located near cities affected by environmental problems? why?Because of more pollution and less plants to absorb the emissions.
