What do you base your opinion on and should we be more concerned about local or global environmental issues?What is the most serious environmental problem faced today?Depends on where you live. I think most are regional and not global, although some are common to many regions.
For example, in China, air pollution is one of if not the most serious of env. problems.
Other parts of the world, the answer might be water quality.
Others, might be deforestation and the concomitant impacts - e.g. on water quality from increased erosion, more surface heating from increased insolation. This leads to increases in BOD and lowers dissolved oxygen for aquatic life.
Two major global problems are: Ozone depletion %26amp;
Global climate change - especially so since these problems require multi-lateral agreements to address and enforce mitigative measures.
