Social democrats VS Social Ecologists (environmental problems)?

Are there any grounds for agreement between social democrats and social ecologists over the causes of and solutions to environmental problems??Social democrats VS Social Ecologists (environmental problems)?My friends who worked in Alaska on the pipeline told me a story of the animals, many endangered ones, who were able to flock to the pipeline for warmth and actually able to reproduce due to the warmth provided. The pipeline helped maintain support for these species and never did any harm--actually only did good for them. The workers are very careful to not scare them away and went out of their way to draw the animals close with the food they provided. The pipeline encouraged the continuation of the animal population, as well as provided OUR OWN oil and gas (no dependency on foreign countries). So what is the problem with us drilling and using our own commodities, especially since Alaska became part of our nation for that very reason?
