Do environmental issues spawn mostly from organizations/companies or from everyday people?

I'm trying to get an idea for a paper i must write for an environmental studies class, but i'm having trouble with the topic: The roles of structural and/or organizational factors in creating and/or solving environmental problems.

Can anyone think of any issues where this is prevalent?Do environmental issues spawn mostly from organizations/companies or from everyday people?Extreme environmentalism was spawned from socialists and communists intent on changing the way we live our lives.Do environmental issues spawn mostly from organizations/companies or from everyday people? The way you phrased the question is bound to attract many stupid replies!!

Companies and organisations are formed by, and for everyday people. So the problems are better defined as econmoic and social.

two things off the top of my head, I think they should be about the right size.

In the UK there is a law that it is the first duty of companys to make maximum possible profits for thier shareholders. untill that issue is adressed then it would be difficult to discuss much else in the commercial field.

Accounting. It is too shallow, it doesn't look into the future or realise implications of a business models beyond the immediate situation. e.g. London buses, they got rid of all the conductors and got the driver to sell the tickets, this saves alot of money in wages. However, all the while the bus is stationary with selling tickets jams up London streets so making all the buses much slower, increasing fuel costs and increasing the number of buses neccessary, the slow buses also make them less popular, reducing the volume of business. Cleaner, less clogged streets would also bring more business into london, so increasing business further.
