We are running out of water with less than 1% of the world's water sources being drinkable, we are destroying our forests every second, so many wildlife are now extinct because of us and you ask why you should worry about it now? Because it's happening right now and it's scary and this is the only world we've got so we need to do everything we can to protect it, for us, for future generations! Worry! I would like to think it might be that you are too young to have a clear memory of how much worse things have gotten in, say, the last ten years. But I teach a class of 12 year olds, and they are acutely aware that the state of the environment is declining daily.

I am 60 years old, more or less. It's hard to describe how much the quality of life and the capacity of the environment to absorb chemical and thermal shocks have declined in my lifetime. When I was in grade school, we used to drink out of the stream in the back yard. Where can you do that now?
