Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?

When it is clearly the worst threat , everything is amplified by over population.

The effects of human overpopulation are multiple and ominous. As birth rates climb, natural resources get used up faster than they can be replaced, creating enormous economic pressures at home while the standard of living plummets throughout the rest of the world.

As the result of having so many people who do not understand our reality and its behavioral demands, we have created an interrelated web of global environmental problems.

We are depleting our natural resources: our forests, fisheries, range lands, croplands, and plant and animal species. We are destroying the biological diversity on which evolution thrives (this is being called the sixth great wave of extinction in the history of life on earth, different from the others in that it is caused not by external events, but by us).

With powerful new electrical and diesel pumping techniques, we are draining our aquifers and lowering our water tables. We are systemically polluting our air, water, and soil, and consequently our food chain. We are depleting the stratospheric ozone that shields us from harmful ultraviolet radiation. And, we are experiencing symptoms of global warming: heat waves, devastating droughts, dying forests, accelerated species extinction, dying coral reefs, melting glaciers, rising sea levels, more frequent and intense storms, and a more rapid spread of diseases.

How can it be so hard to understand ??? what are we waiting for.....Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?Because humans like to deal with issues RIGHT before it's too late. i.e. endangered animals, pollution, use of oil, etc. But honestly if the government ever did propose a child-policy it would be shot down instantly. People would be like "No! It's always been my dream to have 15 kids!" I think people just don't like to think about it. Humans have no predators nowadays, so it is important for people to realize that a huge population isn't always a good thing and start working toward a solution. Also, look at the debt of the United States, $14 trillion, think this generation or the next will pay it off? No. That will be another thing people will just put off until it becomes a major issue. Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?
it's not so much population as the way we use the earth. Most of the environmental damage from chemicals and industrialization is from the few rich countries.

we could probably sustain 20 billion people if everyone lived like poor Ethiopians. But if we insist on having everyone living like an American with SUV's big house and energy waster, we need either 4 planets or much fewer people. Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?Because most of the solution to overpopulation is unethical to some religions/cultures/traditions. It is being acknowledged as a big problem, though.

However, other problems may be addressed without trampling over moral issues. So logically, people tend to focus on these problems. Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?
Because our religions are more important than any sort of future for our children.

They tell us to breed. They tell us not to abort. They tell us not to have homosexual sex. They tell us not to masturbate. The religion that outbreeds, wins.

And as we can see, when times get tough, we fall back on religion, or what we think religion says, and require that from our politicians. One wonders if dinosaurs had similar behavior...Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?People are stupid dumb and ignorant.

Forget it your are wasting your time , these stupid idiots will ***** up this planet and reduce the quality of life till no one remains.

humans are stupid ******** idiots ..yes that is a reality the few intelligent people must live with.
well what would you have the world do johnjay, line em up and shoot em down? youve identified the problems, but offer no solution.

and its population density and those countries that consume far more then the average world citizen thats really the problem. if the world had 20 billion americans, thats a crisis. if the world had 20 billion people doing nothing but living off the land, their isnt a problem.

did you know that the average worldwide temperature has increased by one degree since 1900? global warming is a myth. and the earth has undergone extinctions and atmospheric changes that dwarf what we have done.

im not saying we cant poison and even ruin the planet, but we are barely a footnote in earths history, and compared to what can naturally happen to a planet, such as mars or venus, we arent squat. Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?
Because morons have been claiming that overpopulation is gonna kill us all for the last 50 years. Get over it. The human spirit and drive to excel are the most powerful forces in the universe. We consistantly improve our knowleedge and skills all the defeatest whining done by enviro losers hasn't stopped us and won't stop us. The HUMAN species is destined to own the world then the solar system then the galaxy and then the universe. You can't stop it so don't even try.
"we could probably sustain 20 billion people if everyone lived like poor Ethiopians"

We couldn't even sustain the existing population of the planet if everyone lived like poor Ethiopians. I have lived in Ethiopia! Most Ethiopians outside of the cities are entirely dependent on grass to feed their goats and when they don't have a good year the goats and cattle die off and they verge on starvation. They can't even support themselves with any regularity!!!

Modern technology is the ONLY reason we can support the world's existing population. Modern agriculture has been allowing an increase in human population on this planet for the last 10,000 years, but has dramatically changed the ability to feed people in the past 150 years. Energy supplies have made that possible. At the same time our population has risen, our quality of life has improved incredibly, along with life expectations. The average Egyptian never reached 30 years old. That made teenagers middle-aged. Twenty somethings in ancient Egypt, and even Rome, were old folks.

The biggest ignorance and stupidity is that you think this is a problem. Why is over population rarely mentioned as an environmental issue ?
White people actually have a negative population growth. The global white fertility rate is 1.3. That means each woman and child have on average 1.3 children. They are not replacing themselves for husband and wife needs at least 2 children to replace themselves and 3 children to grow. When you combine this with massive non-white immigration into all white countries, enormous birthrates among the nonwhites in our countries (our welfare systems encourage nonwhites to reproduce exponentially), and an increasing trend of inter racially marriage; white people are facing first the dispossession of their countries; and ultimately the literal and physical extinction in the near future.

So over population is a threat to the white race. As the nonwhites multiply with fertility rates of 3,4,5, and 8 in some countries in Africa, they spill over into Europe and America.

I AM WITH YOU BUDDY!! If I could move to another realm of existence and take my books, I would be on that train in an instant.

This is the thing... people aren't stupid, they are thoughtless. Thoughtlessness can cross lines. It's not just being selfish and rude. It can mean that people will say and do things NOT understanding that it's rude or selfish! To me, thoughtlessness is a like a blend of stupid and ignorance. You never know which one you are encountering these days.
