What are social, environmental and economic benefits and problems of tourist growth?

Tourism growth is definitely good for the economy. Tourist spend money on travel, stay, food and leisure and this good for the local economy. Bad part of it will be that they raise the cost of goods locally and that may be affecting the local population. For example in some places visited by wealthy tourist the shop owners put the price of good higher to earn more but it can adversely affect the locals.


Social problem will be like the locals are treated badly by the tourist or the tourist cultural behavior may not be liked by the locals. for example in strict muslim countries the western couple get caught kissing etc. Good part is that better understanding between cultures help to foster better relationship.


Environmental issues like polluting the place by tourist may be an adverse effect.
