Negative physical / environmental impacts
- The carrying capacity of a destination was not observed thus the place becomes too crowded. This results to overpopulation and overdevelopment. An example is the island of Boracay.
- Depletion of a destination's natural resources. Locals and tourists compete over water supply and other necessities.
- Since hotels and resorts, bars, malls etc. have been built, these pose a problem on the sustainability of the place. They may also disturb the flora and fauna of the place and even damage some historical sites.
- If the tourism master plan of a destination was also not observed (i.e. building high-rise properties when there should just be a maximum of 3 floors), then these establishments pose a problem when there are natural calamities like earthquakes.
Negative economic impacts
- Since tourists are generally perceived as having the capacity to spend, this might result to goods and other services becoming more expensive in a destination and locals who usually earn less will have limited access to these goods.
- Rampant commercialization of local products. Even rare animals and plants might be sold as souvenirs to tourists.
Negative socio-cultural impacts
- The commodification of human relationships. Prior to the onslaught of tourism in the island, locals are usually naturally accommodating and kind. But since they got used to getting tips or gifts, they might not help tourists without anything in return.
- Locals may adapt some new concepts from tourists like the way they dress or talk. They may even learn how to smoke or drink and live a hedonistic lifestyle. In this regard, some locals lose part of their identity and culture.
- Prostitution is a global problem tourism-wise though it does not necessarily mean that the prostitutes are from the island destination itself. I have interviewed Boracay locals and those who engage in the flesh trade are just "dayos" (not from Boracay or even Aklan and nearby provinces like Capiz and Iloilo). Some were from Manila, actually.
Edit:
I just would like to add that there are always two sides to a coin. Tourism has its positive impacts too but since you only asked for the negatives ones, I thus just enumerated those in my answer.What are problems faced by Filipino government due to tourism?

What are problems faced by Filipino government due to tourism?1. As you said, littering and environmental damage;2. Possible importation of foreign manufactured virus and potential contagion of the entire populace;
3. Foreign criminals may make the country not only their hideaway, but their new headquarters;
4. Foreigners may pass off as "natural born Filipinos" and get elected in Congress, or even get to be President and serve only the interest of their real country;
5. Tourist girls (good looking) may compete with our very own GROs and cause them to lose business;
6. The Government may be told by "tourists" to build more hotels and those occupying prime lands might get booted out (to join the ranks of the homeless under the bridge dwellers), while they build hotels using the people's money, hotels that serve only non-Filipinos or officials on the take;
7. The Government might succumb to tourist demands for more casinos, that employ local girls (who should turn to prostitution) and Filipinos would be losing their hard-earned jobs gambling, and the families they support would get broken up, and they will all turn "tirador" (hitmen);
8. To escape from all these problems caused by the Tourism Industry, Filipinos might ALL opt to leave the country for a while, and then come back as ALL TOURISTS to even the score.What are problems faced by Filipino government due to tourism?
The problems of Philippine Government about tourism industry in the country are cultural conflict and social conflict.
Have you noticed in Mindanao there are many potential sites for tourism particular in extreme southern Mindanao where the previous World famous "Dakak Beach Resort" was located at early '80s but it was abandoned by investor due to possible cultural and social conflict arise.
For me I prefer to keep our culture and values intact than to invite foreign investors that might create troubles later for the beliefs and values to our fellow Filipinos.What are problems faced by Filipino government due to tourism?sex tourism used to be a big problem before. but with hidden cameras and shows like xxx, imbestigador andn similar shows, the problem had minimized somehow.What are problems faced by Filipino government due to tourism?
