Can we solve the world's environmental problems without addressing religion?

It's been said that while some of the greatest tragedies have been done in the name of religion, so have the greatest acts of compassion.

I think our world's environmental problems threaten the future of our existence on our planet. I certainly won't put off my efforts to create a sustainable and just future to "address" religion. I think "addressing" religion can be done along side the "addressing" of our culture: changing the old by creating the new.
